Being Creative DIY storage box tutorial

"not" getting my kickstarter funds and not having the money really has forced me to be creative. I am getting so much better results .. having more fun and making it that much more personal and special because of it.

I need storage bins and have tons of shipping boxes. I found some great ideas on pinterest.

I made this from a cardboard shipping box and some scrap shipping packing paper I had saved. I friggin love it. I sewed a liner and its ready to go. I can't wait to finish the rest of the boxes.

Alice in Wonderland Giant Roses...

I never made my kickstarter funds... so I have to be cheap and creative! I saw these beautiful giant flowers in Michaels .. but at up to $20 and $30 each ... NO WAY!

I did a quick search and was reminded that I can make my own flowers. I remember making paper flowers with my mom when I was a kid. So I found this great link http://greenweddingshoes.com/diy-giant-paper-rose-flower/ on how to make giant roses!

These are awesome!! I made these giant roses out of coffee filters! I have a whole stack for $1 and including the wire. I think its about $1.50 each these cost to make or less.... I will fill my whole shop with these roses and flowers. I really like how the coffee filters dry and "dither" the paint softly. In the instructions they use crape paper.... but totally digging the cheap coffee filters instead. Plus you can dye them any color you want. I used a spray bottle with pink watered down paint and then touched the centers with a paint brush of darker pink.

I really felt like Alice in Wonderland painting the roses in the garden for the queen... ;O)

Studio Update...

OK here is one corner of the studio painted. Its not finished yet but a work in progress. There's a mini coffee bar... because I really need coffee to keep going here!!

I made the little chandelier. And of course all hand painted. I really LOVE my new "Le Faerie" push pin board for art notes :O)

I decided to go for French Shabby Chic for the over all look. It will transition as you move around the room. Share more pics as I go ...
